Shulamit Lerner MD

Shulamit Lerner, MD has been a pediatrician and pediatric endocrinologist caring for children in the New York area and beyond since 2001. Following fellowship training at the Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital of New-York Presbyterian, she conducted research and saw patients for a decade as a member of the faculty practice. In 2015, Dr. Lerner transitioned from the Columbia faculty practice to a solo private practice in Riverdale. Patients and their families now have direct access to her, both through the patient portal for general concerns, as well as the above toll-free number for urgent matters/emergencies. She is thrilled to be able to provide continued personal and personalized care to patients and their families, providing care that incorporates a holistic philosophy with the latest research in pediatric endocrinology. An initial consultation is scheduled for ninety minutes, during which time she will review a child's medical history, current state of health, family history, and results of previous testing, along with a careful physical examination. This will be performed with an eye towards the family's questions, and she will therefore review their medical concerns, and work with them to create a comprehensive path to explore, reassure, and clarify care. Dr. Lerner has a particular interest in nutrition, encouraging her patients to take steps toward a lifestyle that meets their body's needs for optimal well-being. She is delighted to learn from and work with all medical practitioners, including integrative specialists, to maintain the teamwork required to optimize care of an individual child. With her private practice, she is thrilled to be more available, and bring even more personal attention to her patients' care. A new consultation with Dr. Lerner is set at $400, and $250 for a follow-up appointment. Each visit assumes a brief call beyond the visit for clarification of an issue. For communication that is beyond a single concern, and for completion of forms and prior authorizations, her expertise is provided at a prorated hourly $250 fee. Dr. Lerner can provide you with a Superbill for your insurance plan to reimburse you, per your insurance plan. Dr. Lerner's out-of-network status does not impact patients' costs for prescription medication or blood tests, as long as families continue to utilize in-network formularies and facilities, pharmacies, and laboratories.
