Dr Thomas Bailey, MD is a lifelong resident of the Youngstown, OH region. He attended pre-medical studies at Youngstown State University and obtained his medical degree from Northeast Ohio Medical University in 1999. He returned to his hometown to complete his internal medicine residency training from 1999-2002. Following his residency, he established a traditional insurance-based outpatient medical practice in the Youngstown area. In 2011, Dr Bailey transitioned to hospital medicine, becoming the hospitalist for a large independent family practice clinic in the community. Frustrated by the growing unaffordability of health care and the erosion of the doctor-patient relationship in the US healthcare system, Dr Bailey found hope in the growing direct primary care movement. In January 2024, he returned to independent practice, opening the first direct primary care internal medicine practice in his community, Mahoning Valley Direct Primary Care. Located in Austintown, OH, the clinic serves adult patients 18 years of age and older. For a fixed and transparent monthly fee , members receive routine preventative care, management of chronic conditions and treatment of common acute illnesses in the clinic. A variety of lab tests and procedures are all included in the price of monthly membership to the practice (see services ). His approach to patient care is highly personal, and he strives to be available to patients whenever he is needed. "The goal is bringing back trust to the doctor patient relationship, making care accessible, personalized and affordable to all", remarks Dr Bailey. He is a trusted partner in his patients' health journeys, working to help them achieve and maintain their health rather than focusing only on "sick care".
